Family Fun in Traverse City- Our Great Wolf Lodge Adventure
We took a much-needed trip back to Michigan to spend time with family, and it turned out to be the kind of getaway that fills your heart (and your camera roll). Our destination? The always-fun Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City.
It was a packed group—me, my sister, her boyfriend, my three wild and wonderful nephews, my sweet niece, our mom, and of course, Cole. The minute we walked into the Lodge, you could feel the energy shift. The kids’ eyes lit up, and honestly, so did the adults’. There's just something about being surrounded by laughter and water slides that hits differently.
We kicked things off at the indoor water park, where the kids could have easily stayed all day—and basically did. There were splashes, slides, and floating on the lazy river. After drying off, we made it to the dance party, complete with bubble machine's that I got for my nephews which were a hit with all the kids. Watching the kids dance their hearts out under the bubbles was a memory I won’t forget.
Next up: MagiQuest. If you’ve never tried it, picture a scavenger hunt meets fantasy roleplay. With wands in hand, the kids ran around the lodge solving clues, casting spells, and unlocking secrets. It was a full-on adventure, but also talk about being TIRED after that. Then we hit the arcade, which was a blast—and not just for the kids. There's something satisfying about loading up on tickets and swapping them for tiny plastic treasures and candy.
No trip is complete without treats, so naturally, we made time for ice cream—the kind that drips down your wrist before you even take your first bite. Worth it.
Before heading back to Iowa, we got to cheer on my two oldest nephews at their wrestling match on Saturday. Watching them compete and seeing how much they’ve grown was such a proud moment. Definitely the perfect way to wrap up a weekend full of family, fun, and so many good memories.
